Physical Exams

Professionals take tests to maintain their certifications and licenses.  Your body needs to be tested to be sure that everything is still working properly.  This is where physical exams are needed.

Whether it is an annual exam or whether you are getting ready to start playing a sport, a physical exam makes sure that your body is working as it should and your health is optimal.  These exams can detect serious conditions or allow you to get up to date on your vaccinations.

While not fun to complete, an important component of a physical exam is the paperwork.  Dr. Andreassen needs to know your family and personal health history, so he can determine if certain areas need closer evaluation.  A family history of heart disease would signal the need for extra blood pressure testing and blood tests, including diabetes and cholesterol screenings.  Unexpected health changes since the last exam are important to document.

Vital signs will be taken.  The body will be checked for abnormalities or changes.  Motor functions and reflexes will be tested.  Lab tests will be ordered depending on your documented history.

If it has been a while since your last physical exam, call the Family Medical Center to make an appointment.
